On Tuesday, The Collegian announced the arrival of its new award, Thresher of the Year, which will be presented on an annual basis starting this spring. The award is intended to recognize an outstanding Bethel College student, faculty member, or staff member for the respective academic year as selected by The Collegian staff.
Here’s everything you need to know about the award’s selection process.
Timeline
Jan. 24 — The staff will begin accepting unlimited nominations from Bethel students, faculty, and staff via a secured Google Form.
March 14 — Nominations will close.
April 2 — The staff will finalize its decision and notify the recipient.
April 14 — The recipient will be celebrated by gracing the cover and serving as the centerpiece of the final print issue of the academic year.
Criteria
As set by The Collegian staff:
Recipient must be a Bethel College student, faculty member, or staff member.
Recipient must be “dedicated to improving Bethel and non-Bethel communities.”
Recipient must “exemplify Bethel College-selected institutional qualities.”

Submission of nominations for the inaugural Thresher of the Year recipient is open.
