The men’s soccer team kicked off this year’s season on Sept. 5, following last year’s season, where they finished with an 8-11 record. With this season just beginning, the Thresher soccer team has played 4 games so far.
During the first match, the Threshers played a conference game against York. They won 4-0, starting the season off on a high note. Continuing that trend, the Threshers held their first home game against Avila and won the match 1-0. The next two games for the team were away games against some difficult competition in the conference.
First they played Oklahoma Wesleyan in a difficult loss of 0-6. The next match was held Oct. 3 at Friends University where the Threshers continued to have troubles throughout the match and ultimately lost 2-1. While the Threshers season is now in full swing, they will be wrapping up with their conference game on Nov. 14. Hopefully there they will secure a spot in the playoffs. There are six more games within the conference, the next one being postponed from Oct. 10 facing up against Kansas Wesleyan University. The Threshers are hoping to bounce back during this match, and they hope to gain more of the offensive firepower that they had in the first two matches. They hope to tighten up their defensive presence with not allowing a single goal in their first two matches compared to the last two where they have given up a total of eight goals.
With a COVID spike happening at Bethel in the last couple of weeks, the soccer teams practices might be splitting up and working out at different times. Either way the Threshers are very confident in their abilities to come together and rally form the two previous losses and start a winning streak. With most of their games being away games for the Threshers so far, that means the later half of the schedule for the Threshers will hopefully be less difficult]t due to COVID. With all that has been happening at school and all the distractions we all have been forced to face, go out and support our Men's Soccer team and make sure to show that Thresher pride. Roll on!
