Student Activities Council rolls out new initiatives, positions, staffers
Secretary Brianna Reeves spoke with The Collegian about her organization's outreach.
If you ask any member of the Student Activities Council (SAC), the organization has made a great start for the 2022-2023 school year — and has already seen a handful of changes.
With events like the 3v3 basketball tournament, outdoor scavenger hunt, and roller skating night in the books, SAC’s secretary, Brianna Reeves, is hoping to build student engagement this year by increasing their social media presence. Leadership has now rolled out “Follower Fridays,” which are held on the first Friday of every month.
“These posts encourage students to give us their opinions and ideas for events and student sections [at athletic events].” Reeves, a senior from Derby, said.
Additionally, SAC is revamping its TikTok account in hopes to publicize student involvement and enjoyment at events. The council’s goal is to create a welcoming environment for all students, which they hope will be demonstrated through their variety of events, from game shows to outdoor activities.
A year ago, SAC recorded great success with student attendance and participation. Now looking ahead, members are becoming more creative with events by providing more opportunities to get involved and collaborating with other student organizations on campus.
Changes to SAC include new coordinator positions within the council. These positions include Media, Special Events, Series Events, Recreation & Leisure, and Bethel Pride.
They are held by Reeves (secretary), media coordinators Ryan Gregg and Sidney Smith, Megan Terrell and Jabril Powell as series events coordinators, special events coordinators Jesse McMichael and Chance Rogers, Bethel Pride coordinators Madi Terrel and Hayden Honomichl, and Phillip Williams, Trey Palmer, and Ben Rudeen for recreation and leisure.
It’s important to note that SAC is always open to suggestions for students, whether it is in relation to future events or events that have already taken place. Students can contact any of the Student Activities Council coordinators directly, email sac@bethelks.edu, or reach out through social media accounts.
