SGA Report | Leadership gears up for luncheon with Bethel administration
President Wallace and Vice President Fleck facilitated a list of talking points and questions to include for school decision-makers.
This week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting covered a few Individual Scholarship Requests (ISRs), a bill to allocate funds to the newly established Disc Golf club, and discussion points for Friday’s SGA-Exec Luncheon.
To start the SGA meeting held Oct. 24, the senate broke into an Executive session to discuss and vote on ISRs. Following this, the SGA presented and discussed Bill 91-006 to allocate funds from the RSO account to the Disc Golf Club.
This bill would grant $500 to the club and would cover tournament registration for four out of five tournaments. One tournament will not be sponsored as the admission fee had to be paid before the funds were voted on. The club still plans to do fundraising to cover many of their expenses.
The bill passed unanimously, 7-0.
Moving forward into old business, the Senate discussed the progress of Committee Reports. The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday and unlike senate meetings, will not be open to the public.
Following a discussion about committee work, the SGA took the rest of the meeting time to discuss the budget and to prepare discussion points for the SGA and Bethel College Administration Luncheon held Friday, Oct. 27. Vice President Matthew Fleck proposed questions collected from the last senate meeting. Senate members elaborated on these questions and offered suggestions and additional talking points.
This luncheon was scheduled to help improve communication between the two groups and included prominent members of the administration and Fleck with SGA President Hayden Wallace.
The next senate meeting will be held Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. in WAC 203.
