Ready, Teddy, Go!: SAC’s Stuff ‘n Fluff
Everybody's favorite winter event made it back to campus on the evening of Dec. 4.
On Sunday night, Bethel’s Student Activities Council (SAC) put on the much-anticipated annual Stuff ‘n Fluff. This is a night where Bethel students have the opportunity to all gather and participate in what resembles a Build-a-Bear workshop — except students get to stuff their own teddy bears.
The lineup featured some un-bear-ably cute animals such as gingerbread dogs, manatees, raccoons, polar bears, squirrels, classic holiday reindeers, and many more. The night began with a first come first served policy, though a limit of one bear per person was enforced during the first hour. After the first hour, students were allowed to make as many bears as they wanted while supplies lasted.
During the event, laughter and fun conversation could be heard all throughout Memorial Hall as students took their time stuffing their new fluffy friends. Afterwards, students had the opportunity to fill out a birth certificate with the name of their bear as well as the time and place in which this activity was held.
Some of the conversation revolved around how students didn’t get the opportunity to participate in the Stuff ‘n Fluff in the past due to prior commitments or unfortunately being in quarantine due to covid during their first year as a Bethel student.
“My freshman year I was in quarantine and was unable to go. This year, I went with my mod mates and it was so much fun,” said junior Kaity Shima from Topeka.
As for a few others who attended, it was their first time participating in this pawsitively fun event.
“The Christmas music really put me in the holiday mood,” said junior transfer Kylah Carter from Houston, Tex. “Seeing everyone around me doing something so simple that brought us all together was so much fun to be a part of.”
Students throughout the night even mentioned how Stuff ‘n Fluff reminded them of fond childhood memories that included trips to Build-a-Bear Workshop.
Amidst preparing for upcoming exams and finals week approaching just around the corner, students have expressed how much they appreciate SAC putting on events such as this. Stuff ‘n Fluff has allowed students to take a much needed break where they can step back from the endless cramming hours by participating in a fun and relaxing opportunity.
“I think stuffed animals just have the ability to make people happy which is much needed especially going into finals week,” said Shima.
