P&M Pumpkin Ranch: the perfect fall attraction
This local family-run ranch is owned by a Bethel graduate and makes for a great fall pastime.
Located just north of Moundridge, under half an hour from Bethel College, lies a family farm turned pumpkin patch.
P&M Pumpkin Ranch serves Salina, McPherson, Newton, and Wichita broader communities with its mission “to use our farm to create a family centered environment where you, your family, & your friends like family can find true joy in spending time together experiencing the fall together & making memories.”
The name P&M itself is proof of this “family centered environment” — it stands for Paityn and Macy, the daughters of owner/operator and two-time Bethel graduate, Jamie Kaminkow.
“We wanted them to learn the value of hard work. That was one reason why we started the Pumpkin Ranch,” said Kaminkow.
The Kaminkow family already loved the mission of pumpkin patches, but when they purchased their original fifty-four acre farm, that love turned into a “God-sized dream.”
In 2014, with the help of family, friends, and other pumpkin farmers, P&M Pumpkin Ranch opened for its first season.
The family adds to the local attraction every year — new for this season is mini golf.
“One of the most fun times of the year is right before we open, when we reveal to our customers what's new for the season, and get to hear, and then see everyone's excitement,” said Kaminkow.
Next fall will be P&M’s tenth season and they “already have some big additions planned to celebrate.”
This is the perfect attraction for students and community members alike over both fall break and the broader autumn season. The pumpkin ranch is located under the shelter of trees next to a creek. The walk through the valley is enjoyable just for its natural beauty.
That being said, the patch includes pedal carts, chute slides, pig races, zip lines, campsites, a pumpkin cannon, a corn maze, great food and much more. There is truly something for everyone.
P&M Pumpkin Ranch is open 4-7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.
