A look at the upcoming Wind Ensemble concert
A preview of the upcoming Wind Ensemble concert this Thursday
Bethel College’s student body is largely made up of student-athletes. In fact, about 80% of students here are involved in some aspects of the athletics department. But, as the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music, Chris Miertschin, states, “Don’t feel like you need to ONLY be involved in athletics!”

The other roughly 20% of students are involved in the arts. Whether that is visual arts or fine arts such as theater, forensics, choir, and/or band, there is a place for everyone.
For anyone who is looking to dip their toe into the world of fine arts, this Thursday, March 6th, there is a Wind Ensemble performance in Krehbiel Auditorium.
During this performance, audiences can expect to hear tunes such as “‘March’ from English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams, which will be directed by student director Emil Benavides.”
Miertschin made sure to mention that the two works for this concert he is most excited about include “Rivers by Isabella Morril…[which] is dedicated to the victims of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War and Little Mexican Suite by Nubia Jaime Donjuan.”
Miertschin said for any students out there who are thinking about getting involved in the music department, his advice is to “get in touch with the music faculty, and let us know what you like to do… we’d love to have more students involved!”
After the Wind Ensemble concert, the next performance expected from the music department will occur on Sunday, March 9th at 4 pm in Memorial Hall. This event is the Concert Choir’s “Tour Kickoff” and is the starting event before the rest of their tour over spring break.
Stop by Krehbiel Auditorium at 7:00 on Thursday to hear great music by the Bethel College Wind Ensemble!
