A look at the upcoming "Bethel Sings" concert
Looking ahead to the Bethel Choir Department's upcoming concert this Sunday.
Bethel College is home to around 500 students, most of whom participate in extracurricular activities. Whether it is sports, clubs, or fine arts, students are always kept “Bethel Busy.” This term refers to the common lifestyle of Thresher Students and how they are constantly running around from activity to activity.
This can be demonstrated in student athletes' daily lives. However, students who do not participate in athletics experience this, too. With rehearsals multiple times a week and shows throughout the year, music students always remain busy.
Sunday, November 3rd, at 4 pm, the Bethel Choir will be performing in the Bethel College Mennonite Church, Located across the street from Haury Hall. The choir groups who are performing at the event are the Bethel Concert and Chapel Choirs, as well as student-led groups Open Road and Woven. This event is entitled “Bethel Sings.”
Mya Morris, a freshman from Halstead, Kansas, says that this year's theme for the choir is “Sing You Home.” Morris shares that this “is to honor the loved ones that we have lost and our hopes to see them again.”
The Bethel choir is very talented. They put in an abundance of work and dedication to making such a successful department. Morris states that the college’s choir has such an incredible bond. The ensemble can stand above the rest due to “the way [they] are able to all click and blend voices together.” According to members, this is a rare aspect of the Bethel Choir that many others do not have.
Similar to other events put on through the college, the band and choir departments are constantly busy. On November 12, there is an Organ recital Series by Dr Jacob Hofeling, and on November 21 is Bands Professor Chris Miertchin's Faculty Recital. Both of these events occur at 7 pm and will be located in Krehbiel Auditorium, inside the Fine Arts Center. These events are free for students and a great way to stay “Bethel Busy.”
If you’re free this Sunday, stop by Bethel College Mennonite Church at 4 pm for a talent-filled concert by the Bethel College Music Department!
