SGA Report | 2024-2025 club budgets, GSA-BeLonGTo merger passed
The group is set to reconvene on April 16 at 11 a.m. in the WAC.
The Student Government Association (SGA) held a senate meeting March 26 and covered the merging of two clubs and followed the progress on committee projects. The next meeting held Tuesday covered the passing of the budget as well as four ISR requests.
In the March 26 meeting, the group opened with an open forum and discussed committee progress. A few committees are invested in updating areas around campus, the Memorial Hall weight room being the topic of that particular meeting. Senator Corbin Unruh addressed the next steps for that project.
Next up was Bill 91-026 to Merge GSA-BeLongTo into Pride Alliance Council (PAC). This bill would allow the two clubs to merge their budget as well as consolidate their members into one club with a similar mission statement as the two individually. The bill passed 7-0 with two senators absent.
The two clubs will combine at the start of the next school year.
In Old Business, the SGA checked in on the Library Study Room Updates project, another committee project. At the time of the meeting, senators were waiting on quotes for the materials needed to proceed.
The meeting was adjourned in 11 minutes. The next meeting took place on Tuesday and covered the proposed budget for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The bill covering this budget was Bill 91-027 to Approve the Fiscal 2025 Budget for the 92nd Student Government Association. This budget was determined based on the annual Budget Allocation meetings that happened March 23, where the SGA met with each student organization and allowed them to defend their budget and talk about their activity the past semester.
These student organization budgets are included in the RSO fund. In addition to the RSO fund, the SGA budget will include SGA internal operations, Student Activities Council (SAC), Diversity Council (DivCo) and the SGA’s Special Projects fund, ISR fund, and The Collegian. The bill for the budget passed 8-0-1 with one member abstaining from the vote due conflict of interest in a student organization.
The SGA used the rest of the meeting to discuss the three new ISRs. All three passed. The next Student Government Association meeting will be April 16 at 11 a.m. in WAC 203.
